Niki Marangou Prize Awarded to Classics Finalist
The Niki Marangou Undergraduate Prize for Modern Greek Studies is awarded for the first time in June 2016. This award has been made possible thanks to Mr Constantis Candounas, in memory of the inspirational Cypriot poet, novelist, painter and bookshop-owner Niki Marangou, who died in 2013.

The prize is awarded to the student in any year of undergraduate study who achieves the highest overall mark in a module (including a dissertation) offered in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities whose content includes modern Greek studies (from 1453 to the present day), demonstrating exceptionally good academic work focussed on modern Greek culture.
The value of the prize is £500.
This year’s winner is Konstantinos Lygouris (BA Classics, 3rd year) for his performance in the module 6AACHI60 Origins of nations and nationalism: identity in the Hellenic world.
