Contributions to the topical debates about the "sexualisation" of culture
CMCI's Professor Rosalind Gill has just published two more contributions to the topical debates about the "sexualisation" of culture, partly arising from her recent ESRC seminar award.
In "The sexualisation of culture?" Social and Personality Psychology Compass (vol6/7 – July 2012) she asks whether the phrase has any analytic value and discusses contrasting perspectives from media studies and psychology, arguing for a truly psychosocial perspective.

In "Media, Empowerment and the "Sexualization of Culture" Debates" Sex Roles (vol.66 – May 2012) she takes up the challenges raised by Sharon Lamb and Zoe Peterson to think about what empowerment means for young women negotiating sexual encounters.
