Project Coordinator and Research Associate

The Centre for Science and Security Studies (CSSS) seeks to recruit two Project Coordinators and Research Associate’s to be based at CSSS, Department of War Studies, Strand, WC2R 2LS, London. The post will involve a mixture of project coordination, research and knowledge transfer work tied to a project funded by the US State Department’s Partnership for Nuclear Security. It will involve working closely with practitioners and the delivery of a series workshops internationally. The post holder may also be required to undertake some administrative duties, will be required to work with budgets and will need to make sure the financial planning of the research in maintained according the agreed programme for the use of resources. The post holder will need to travel internationally and liaise with people from other countries so they will be required to be flexible, culturally aware and have a good understanding of equal opportunities and diversity. They will be required to produce research to a high standard and deliver that research in the form of presentations when requested by the Co-directors. They may also be required to arrange internal meetings and workshops in the UK with other partners, stake holders or contributors from outside the organisation in order to promote and publicize the research carried out by the Centre.

This post will be Fixed Term Contract for 12 months 

This is a Full-time 100% full time equivalent 

The selection process will include competency based questions, a presentation and a panel interview.

CSSS Coordinator

To be responsible for the administration of the Centre for Science & Security Studies (CSSS) and support the smooth running of the Centre’s operations, the Centre’s financial systems and budgeting, and provide professional administrative support to the Centre’s Co-Directors. In addition, they will co-ordinate all logistical aspects of the programme of professional development courses around the globe, including maintaining an effective working relationship with the Centre’s many global stakeholders. 

The role would suit someone who has previously worked in the Higher Education sector, someone who has some financial experience, event planning experience, experience of liaison with a diverse range of people, experience in administration and co-ordination of projects. The post holder will need to be flexible, very organised, able to multi task and willing to get involved in a variety of different tasks.

The selection process will include competency based questions, a presentation, an assessment and a panel interview.

This full time post will be fixed term for 12 months.

Postdoctoral Research Associate

The Centre for Science and Security Studies (CSSS) seeks to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate who will be required to undertake and support original research at the intersection of nuclear security and emerging technologies.

The post holder will be expected to produce peer-reviewed publications during their period of residence. These may take the form of peer-reviewed articles or conversion of a doctoral thesis into a book manuscript. The post holder will also be expected to contribute to CSSS academic life by attending and presenting at research seminars, and by collaborating with colleagues within the Centre on research proposals and publications.

The selection process will include a presentation and panel interview.

This full time post will be offered on a fixed term contract for 12 months.
