The Dental Institute has scored an unmatched 98% overall satisfaction in the 2015 National Student Survey, the highest rating for any programme of study at King’s College London. The achievement shows a 5% rise on the 2014 results, showcasing the high standard of education performed at the faculty.

King's College London's Dental Institute placed joint second in the country in the overall satisfaction category.  The NSS rankings are always viewed by prospective students, and of course staff, as an indicator of the popularity and success of their Institution compared to all the other Dental Schools in the UK. The Dental Schools are always very closely packed in the ranks, certainly compared to virtually all other subjects.

"It is really pleasing that this year King’s has come second in the rankings. Normally as the largest school we expect not to do as well as the small and ‘cuddly’ ones. But this year we showed that as well as being large we can also be popular with our students and deliver an experience that is seen by the vast majority as good. It is a fantastic team effort by a large number of people who believe in what they do and want to be the best. To get student appreciation is the greatest accolade of them all," says Professor Mark Woolford, Associate Dean for Education.

The Dental Institute also reached its highest ever response rate, with 90% of final-year undergraduates completing the survey, and achieved improvements in all other areas, including a 15% improvement in assessment and feedback, and increases in academic support and organisation and management.

The overall increase in student satisfaction in this year’s NSS results is very welcome news and something that the King’s Dental Institute community should take pride in, showcasing the close working relationship between the student body and the council.

Dental Institute Executive Dean, Dianne Rekow agrees: “I applaud the contributions of the entire staff in this latest remarkable outcome.  It highlights the continuing commitment of our dedicated staff to create an environment and culture that enables students to thrive and appreciate their demanding journey into dentistry.”

King’s College London’s Dental Institute is one of the foremost Dental Schools in the world. Recently ranked number seven in the world by the QS World University Rankings 2015, the National Student Survey results confirm their reputation of having exceptional education programmes. With highly skilled teachers and supervisors, there are state-of-the-art facilities and students are given access to over 300,000 patients each year across the two world-famous hospitals, Guy’s and St Thomas’, for hands-on clinical training. King’s Dental Institute is one of the most comprehensive academic health science centres in Europe.
