Documentary Your Inner Fish featuring King's Dentistry academic, nominated for two Emmys

Abbie in labYour Inner Fish is a PBS and Howard Hughes funded documentary that featured interviews and comments from leading academics across the UK and the States. Professor Abigail Tucker of King’s College Dental Institute was one of only three UK scientists selected to be involved in the project.

The documentary explores evolutionary topics and reveals how our bodies are the legacy of ancient fish, reptiles and primates. Not only nominated for two Emmys, the three part series proved incredibly popular and is now to be included as part of education packs sent to US schools to educate students on evolution.

"It was great to be involved in such a successful and far reaching documentary series”, says Professor Tucker. “Following how our bodies evolved and are shaped during embryology is a great way to understand our complex anatomy, why we look and move as we do. I am particularly pleased that the documentary is being used as a resource in schools to encourage an understanding of evolution."

The documentary was nominated for two Emmys: “Outstanding Science and Technology Programme” and “Outstanding Graphic Design and Art Direction” and won the latter category.
