Professor Challacombe awarded the Samuel Charles Miller Award 2018

The Samuel Charles Miller Award is awarded annually by AAOM for outstanding contributions in the field of Oral Medicine. The awardee is required to give a lecture on an Oral Medicine topic of their choosing at the annual meeting in honour of Samuel Charles Miller, the founder of the Academy.

Professor Stephen Challacombe is the second UK person to be awarded the SCM award since it was founded in 1960. Professor Challacombe holds the Martin Rushton Chair in oral medicine in the King's Dental Institute. Professor Martin Rushton was one of the founders of the British Society of Oral Medicine, became President of the BDA and also the first British President of the IADR. The title of Professor Challacombe's lecture was 'The Mouth as an immunological treasure trove; diseases, treatments and outcomes'.
