English student wins Benjamin Franklin literary prize
"Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that is the stuff life is made of”. [Benjamin Franklin]
"Do you spend your time wisely? Upon being informed of the Benjamin Franklin Literary Prize, I thought this would be a wonderful opportunity for me to venture outside the realms of academic writing and into a more creative territory. Franklin, aside from being a politician, was a writer, and I wanted to interpret his quote with a contemporary yet imaginative literary approach. This is why I chose to make the narrative develop into something surprising and unexpected. I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it." [Robyn Marks]
Second year English student Robyn Marks has won the 2013 Benjamin Franklin House Literary Prize with her entry 'The Years Shall Run Like Rabbits'.
Each year a question or quote exploring Benjamin Franklin’s relevance in our time is open for interpretation in 1,000-1,500 words. The competition is open exclusively for young writers aged between 18-25. Winning entries are published online in The Telegraph and at Benjamin Franklin House.
You can find Robyn's winning entry at the Benjamin Franklin House website.
