King's alumnus recognised as Exceptional Talent
Clarence Ji, a King’s Computer Science alumnus has been endorsed for an Exceptional Talent visa by the UK Government, one of only 1000 awarded across the UK each year.
The Tier 1 visa acknowledges recognised leaders (exceptional talent) and emerging leaders (exceptional promise) in the fields of science, humanities, engineering, the arts and digital technology, from outside the EU.

The visa allows recipients to stay in the UK for up to 5 years to enrich the United Kingdom’s knowledge economy and cultural life.
Clarence, voted one of the top 10 tech entrepreneurs in London under 30, and Founder of TrARvel, an augmented reality app for tourists, was recognised for his technical ability and outstanding commitment to enterprise and innovation.
Other King’s alumni endorsed for the Exceptional Talent visa include Michael Truong, King’s PhD in Imaging Sciences and Biomedical Engineering, Cofounder of ARTechs and Memento VR.
Both Clarence and Michael have been on the Entrepreneurship Institute’s King’s20 accelerator programme.

About the visa Clarence said;
“I have lived in London for four years where I found what really excites me – developing a great product that truly inspires London tourists and improves how tourists travel. I’m really proud to have been accepted for the exceptional talent visa that enables me to achieve what I’ve been dreaming of. The application process is quite time-consuming and complex but definitely worth it and opens up more opportunities for me to stay in London and contribute to its culture and economy.”
Julie Devonshire OBE, Director of the Entrepreneurship Institute said;
"London is open. As a global university, harnessing the best and brightest talent from around the world is central to King’s vision. We support people like Clarence to receive the Exceptional Talent visa, and endorse people for the Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) visa because we recognise the vital contribution of international students to London and the UK economy.”
