The APPG AI was set up in January 2017 with the aim to explore the impact and implications of Artificial Intelligence, including Machine Learning and covers topics such as the UK’s strengths in AI, employment, standards and regulation, data, and public engagement with AI.

The Group is co-chaired by Stephen Metcalfe MP (Conservative) and Lord Clement-Jones CBE (Liberal Democrat) and the Secretariat run by The Big Innovation Centre, led by Professor Birgitte Andersen. The Group is supported by organisations and advisory bodies including Barclays, BP, Deloitte, EDF Energy, KPMG, CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP, Oxford University Computer Science and PwC.

Other members include Mustafa Al-Bassam, King’s alumni and cybersecurity expert.

“King’s has some of the brightest minds and world-leading AI research so it is important we use these to shape policy and public discussion. AI is a fast-paced area and one which is having an ever-increasing impact on our lives so it is vital we have discussions about its future as early as possible.” Julie Devonshire OBE
