Commentaries on the Eurozone debt crisis

Dr Ramon Pacheco Pardo of the Departments of European & International Studies and Spanish, Portuguese & Latin American Studies has been commenting on the Eurozone debt crisis and European politics for different world media, including CNN, Al Jazeera, Channel NewsAsia, Voice of Russia and NTN 24.

With regards to the crisis, Dr Pacheco Pardo argues that economic problems in some Eurozone member states are the result of long-term structural imbalances rather than short-term liquidity problems emanating from the global financial crisis only. Some Eurozone member states therefore need to address both their immediate debt repayment difficulties and issues associated with a lack of competitiveness in an increasingly open global economy.
