Ramon Pacheco Pardo Joins CSCAP EU Committee

Dr Ramon Pacheco Pardo, Lecturer in Spanish and European Studies has been appointed as a member of the CSCAP EU Committee. Launched in December 2013 under the leadership of the EU Institute for Security Studies, CSCAP EU is part of the Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (CSCAP). The Council is widely regarded as the premier Track Two security organisation in the region.

Among its functions, CSCAP allows scholars, officials, and others in their private capacities to discuss security issues. CSCAP Study Groups also provide policy recommendations to inter-governmental regional mechanisms such as the ARF, the ADMM+ and the East Asia Summit.

As a member of the CSCAP EU Committee, Dr Pacheco Pardo joins a group of over 60 EU experts on Asian Pacific security. These experts are drawn from academia, research institutions and the EEAS, acting in their private capacities.

At the inaugural meeting held in March 2014, CSCAP EU Committee members present at the meeting discussed the logistics of its working methods. They also conferred on the potential contribution of the Committee to CSCAP.
