PhD student wins Curriers' Company London History Essay Prize

Ian Stone, a PhD student supervised by Professor David Carpenter, has been awarded the Curriers' Company London History Essay Prize 2014 for his essay ‘Arnold fitz Thedmar: his place in London’. 

The winning essay was noted for its 'original contribution, argument, depth of scholarship and its clarity of presentation and argument'.

The prize is awarded in association with The London Journal Trust and the Institute of Historical Research, with one of the aims of the competition being to publish the winning essay in the London Journal. 

Mr Stone's primary field of interest is medieval London, and he is currently working on a critical edition of the Liber de Antiquis Legibus, a thirteenth century manuscript written and compiled by London alderman, Arnold fitz Thedmar.
