Elizabeth Black and Sanjay Modgil, Department of Informatics, organise 2nd International Workshop on Theory and Applications of Formal Argumentation

Dr Elizabeth Black and Dr Sanjay Modgil, lecturers in the Agents and Intelligent Systems Group in the Department of Informatics, are co-chairs of the 2nd International Workshop on Theory and Applications of Formal Argumentation (TAFA 2013). This workshop will be held as part of the 23rd International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Beijing, China, 3 – 9 August 2013.

The workshop is inspired by the recent rapid growth of interest in formal models of argumentation and their application in diverse domains. TAFA 2013 aims to further foster the uptake of argumentation as a viable AI paradigm with wide ranging application by providing a forum for further development of existing ideas and for the initiation of new and innovative collaborations.

The workshop solicits papers dealing with, but not limited to, the following topics:

* Properties of formal models of argumentation

* Instantiations of abstract argumentation frameworks

* Relationships amongst different argumentation frameworks

* Argumentation combined with other Artificial Intelligence techniques

* Evaluation of formal models of argumentation

* Validation and evaluation of applications of argumentation

There will also be a demonstration track.
