Attack of the content clones!

Dr. Nishanth Sastry, a member of the Centre for Telecommunications Research group in the Department of Informatics, was recently invited to deliver the concluding keynote lecture at the nineteenth IEEE International Symposium on Computers and Communications, held in Funchal, Portugal.

Dr. Sastry's lecture, entitled "Attack of the content clones: saving the Internet from on-demand video streaming", focused on his group's collaboration with the BBC on reducing the traffic and carbon footprint of BBC iPlayer on UK's networks. Other keynote speakers included Prof. João Gama, University of Porto, who is an expert on machine learning, and Prof. Mario Gerla, UCLA, who has been involved with the Internet since its earliest days and was part of the team that developed the early ARPANET protocols.
