First Distinguished Lecture a Success

The Department of Informatics hosted the first in a series of Distinguished Lectures on 21 June 2012. The event celebrated the career of Emeritus Professor Dov Gabbay, regarded as one of the outstanding minds in the area of logic, who delivered an instructive and entertaining lecture on The Logic of Tense in Language.

It was well attended by many of Dov's colleagues and associates, several of whom travelled from abroad to see Dov talk. Professor Dov Gabbay and Jane Spurr (former Publications Manager) were thanked for their outstanding contribution not only to the Department of Informatics but to the wider research community. Each was presented with a commemorative map of the College by Professor Michael Luck, Head of the Department, in recognition of their service. The lecture was followed by a wine reception.

Professor Gabbay's lecture was filmed and a video of the event will be made available at a later stage for those who were unable to attend the event.
