Informatics partner in €4.245 million EU project

Dr Katarzyna Musial-Gabrys from the Department of Informatics is a coordinator of the King’s College London activities in the €4.245 million EU FP7 ENGINE project (European research centre of Network intelliGence for INnovation Enhancement), which starts on the 1st of July 2013. Professor Przemyslaw Kazienko from the Wroclaw University of Technology (Poland) is a coordinator of this 3.5 year long project.

The main goal of the project is to enhance the research potential of the ENGINE Centre, an integral part of the Wroclaw University of Technology (Poland), by know-how exchange, upgrading the laboratories, initialising new perspectives for advanced and innovative research on network intelligence and its deployment in industry, with particular emphasis on SMEs.

Several twinning visits between King’s College London and Wroclaw University of Technology are planned. They can be short-term visits (up to 2 weeks), middle-term visits (duration from 2 weeks to 2 months), or long-term visits (duration from 2 to 6 months).

These visits aim at reinforcing the ENGINE Centre potential in the following research areas:

- Modelling of social networks dynamics, including analysis of temporal social networks, development of new measures for network evolution;

- Analysis of medical, biological, chemical network data – comparative studies;

- Link prediction in complex social networks based on structural, profile and hybrid information;

- Analysis of social data extracted from various data about user collaboration;

- Analysis of social communities – discovery of social groups, identification and prediction of their changes;

- Data mining for medical data stored in electronic health records;

- Intelligent diagnoses support for general practitioners using integrated and networked data.

If you are interested in going to Poland (Wroclaw) to collaborate with the SNG@WrUT research group at the Wroclaw University of Technology (one of the leading universities in Poland) please contact Dr Musial-Gabrys.

Dr Musial-Gabrys is a member of the Planning, Agents and Intelligent Systems Group. Her research interests include large complex networks analysis, dynamics and evolution of networks and predictive modelling of relational data.
