High-Performance Computing Research Grant
Dr Solon P. Pissis (Algorithms and Bioinformatics group) of the Department of Informatics received a Research Grant from the Royal Society on ``High-performance computing tools and libraries for sequencing data''. This grant is to provide support for purchasing specialised High-Performance Computing (HPC) equipment.
The goal of this project is to devise, analyse, and develop efficient parallel applications for several problems that collectively enable accurate high-throughput DNA sequence assembly and motif extraction from massive biological datasets using modern HPC platforms.
