Informatics staff win King's Awards

The King’s Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of staff and alumni. More than 240 nominations were submitted, almost twice as many as last year. The winners were selected by the Judging Panel, chaired by the President & Principal of King’s College London, Professor Edward Byrne. This year there were three shortlisted nominees from the Department of Informatics, two of whom won in their respective categories.

Dr Mohammad Shikh-Bahaei won the College Supervisory Excellence Award. This award is organised by the Graduate School to recognise the important role that supervisors play in supporting postgraduate research students and to reward excellence in supervisory practice.

Professor Mischa Dohler was shortlisted for the Media Personality of the Year Award. Professor Dohler has received media coverage on a range of topics, including the emerging 5G mobile communications systems, the Internet of Things and the disappearance of flights MH370 and MH17.

Dr Elizabeth Black won the award for Diversity in the Workplace, in recognition of her work as Equality and Diversity Champion for the Faculty of Natural & Mathematical Sciences, which has resulted in the Faculty achieving an Athena SWAN Bronze award.
