1st International Workshop on Model Driven Business Process Engineering at King's
This workshop on 30 April 2012 brought together research work that applies model-driven development and software engineering techniques to business process modelling. Particular papers consider enterprise architecture frameworks, change management using business process engineering, and program management modelling using software modelling techniques.
This is a relatively new research area and MDBPE aims to become a business solutions development method based on the use of models for the specification, design, analysis, synthesis, deployment, testing and maintenance of complex project environments to produce quality solutions that can significantly contribute to corporate decision making at a strategic level. Considering the ever increasing complexity and cost of the development of business solutions, MDBPE is an initiative that recognises the corporate needs of the industry. In effect, MDBPE is based and developed on Model Driven Architecture (MDA) best practices and techniques. MDA is a powerful software development method proposed by the Object Management Group (OMG) which has experienced strong support by the software industry and academia.
The event was a success with participants from several universities as well as from industry. Speakers included Dr Kevin Lano (King's College London). Nektarios Georgalas (BT), Ravinder Singh Xandu (King's College London), Charalampos Apostolopoulos (City University), Dr George Tsaramirsis (King's College London) and Faisal Almisned (King's College London).
A proceedings of the workshop will be published in the series on Model-Driven Development by Bentham Scientific Press, and a research proposal will also be developed. Please contact the organiser, Dr Kevin Lano (kevin.lano@kcl.ac.uk) with any questions.
