Informatics to host two summer schools on AI

The Department of Informatics is hosting two summer schools in July 2013: the European Agent Systems Summer School (EASSS 2013) and the Advanced Course on Artificial Intelligence Summer School (ACAI 2013). These schools are being organised by Dr Elizabeth Black and Dr Sanjay Modgil, lecturers in the Planning, Agents and Intelligent Systems Group, and aim at providing doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers with state of the art courses delivered by the world’s leading researchers.

ACAI is held in odd numbered years, on a specialist research area in AI. The research area of ACAI 2013 is argumentation; a research area that unifies a number of different approaches to nonmonotonic reasoning, decision making, and dialogue. EASSS is held annually and covers research topics relating to agent reasoning, coordination, communication and interaction.

These schools, to be held over the course of the week 1 - 5 July 2013, are being run in parallel, and so will provide a unique opportunity for early stage researchers to interact and exchange ideas with experienced researchers in a wide range of AI disciplines.
