Four IoPPN research articles in Altmetric Top 100

Four research articles authored by academics from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King’s College London have been named in Altmetric’s Top 100, an annual list of the studies that have received the most attention online in the last 12 months.

Altmetric tracks and analyses online activity around scholarly literature, including media coverage, shares and comments on blogs and social media mentions.

The 2015 list features papers published in 34 different journals, with contributions from nearly 2,000 authors.

The highest ranked paper from the IoPPN was ‘Estimating the reproducibility of psychological science’, co-authored by Dr John Hodsoll from the Biostatistics Department and published in Science. The article, ranked fifth in the Top 100, was the subject of 74 news stories, 1,975 tweets and 42 Facebook posts.

Three other articles authored by IoPPN researchers were also listed, including:

Euan Adie, founder of Altmetric, said: ‘Altmetric tracks what people are saying about academic research online to provide additional insights to publishers, authors, libraries and institutions. The annual top 100 ranking is determined by the volume of coverage each article has received in the mainstream media, as well as shares and comments on blogs, Wikipedia, social media platforms (including Twitter, Reddit and Facebook), and in scholarly spaces such as post­publication peer­review forums.’
