Louise Arseneault elected as Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences

Professor Louise Arseneault from the IoPPN has joined the prestigious ranks of the Fellowship of the Academy of Medical Sciences.

She joins 47 new Fellows, who have been elected for their outstanding contributions to biomedical and health science, leading research discoveries, and translating developments into benefits for patients and the wider society.

Professor Arseneault, who is Professor of Developmental Psychology in the Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry Centre at the IoPPN and Mental Health Leadership Fellow for the Economic and Social Research Council says: 

'I am greatly honoured and delighted to become a fellow of the Academy and join forces with a group of such esteemed colleagues and peers to advance health research. I will aim to raise the profile of mental health research and its importance for the development of a better society.'

The IoPPN has 26 current or retired professors who are Fellows of the Academy of Medical Sciences, five of whom are from the Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry Centre.

Three more of the newly elected Fellows are from the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine at King’s College London:

Professor Sir Robert Lechler, President of the Academy of Medical Sciences, said:

'I extend my warmest congratulations to all who are joining us this year, each of whom has earnt this prestige by advancing their own field of biomedical science.'

The new Fellows will be formally admitted to the Academy at a ceremony on 27 June 2018.
