King's College London Archives achieves national accreditation

King’s College London Archives and the Liddell Hart Centre for Military Archives has been awarded Archive Service Accreditation.

Accredited Archive Services ensure the long-term collection, preservation and accessibility of our archive heritage. Accreditation is the UK quality standard which recognises good performance in all areas of archive service delivery. Achieving accredited status demonstrates that King’s College London has met clearly defined national standards relating to management and resourcing; the care of its unique collections and what the service offers to its entire range of users.

The Archives at King’s include the Liddell Hart Centre for Military Archives, a leading repository for research into modern defence policy in Britain already recognised for its importance by Arts Council England’s Designated Outstanding collection scheme, and the institutional records of King's College London, some of the richest Higher Education records in London.

Robert Hall, Director of Library Services, said, ‘I am absolutely delighted that our Archives and Liddell Hart Centre for Military Archives have been recognised by the National Archives through their Accreditation Award scheme. This is richly deserved and a great testament to the work which colleagues in the Archives team in Library Services perform’.

The Archive Service Accreditation Panel commended the service on their impressive, proactive outreach, their developing digital offer and their integral role within the student experience.
