Final of Baker McKenzie Moot 2014

One of the most exciting events on the mooting calendar at The Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London took place on Wednesday 26 February - the final of the Baker & McKenzie mooting competition.

baker-mckenzie-2014---editBaker & McKenzie is the largest internal moot at King'swith 64 participants in the first round. All mooters are novices. With the first round taking place internally, the second round is kindly hosted by the sponsors, Baker & McKenzie, at their offices. A very high standard of advocacy is demonstrated at all stages of the competition, and the final is certainly an exciting juncture both for the mooters and the spectators. This year, the KCL Law Society was honoured to have former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales Baron Igor Judge preside over the final.

The four finalists were Charlotte Savage, Ioan Nascu, Desiree Lim Pei Min and Carla Scholderer. They argued both sides of a contractual dispute. Lord Judge named the best mooter to be Desiree Lim Pei Min whose name will be engraved on the trophy displayed at the Law School. Each finalist had the privilege of receiving one-on-one feedback from Lord Judge on their advocacy skills.

The competition was organised by Veronika Timofeeva, Mistress of Moots and Debates of the KCL Law Society, with the support of The Dickson Poon School of Law School.
