Climate and the Human Future

Climate & the Human Future panel

Professor Dale Jamieson launched his book Reason in a Dark Time: Why the Struggle to Stop Climate Change Failed - and What It Means for Our Future at The Dickson Poon School of Law last week.

Dale Jamieson is Professor of Environmental Studies & Philosophy, Affiliated Professor of Law, and Director of the Animal Studies Initiative at New York University and Visiting Professor in The Dickson Poon School of Law.

The book launch was marked by a panel discussion on ‘Climate and the Human Future’ with Professor Peter Singer (Princeton), author of One World and The Life You Can Save, Nick Butler (King’s College London), Financial Times columnist on Energy and Power and Nanki Kaur, Senior Researcher at the International Institute for Environment and Development.

During an exceptionally lively discussion the panellists agreed on the urgency of finding new ways to address the looming threats of climate change, at the local, national and international levels – and through whatever personal, political and technological strategies will prove most effective.

The event was part of the part of the School’s ethics lecture series and hosted by the team behind the MA Global Ethics & Human Values.
