Inaugural Lecture: "Putting Builders into Prison and Getting Them Out"

david-mosey-2-AprilProfessor David Mosey gave his Inaugural Lecture - "Putting Builders into Prison and Getting Them Out: Legal Issues Arising on Construction Projects of the UK Ministry of Justice" -   as Director of the Centre of Construction Law on Wednesday 2 April.

Professor Mosey explained how 30 years of experience as a specialist construction lawyer has brought him to lead King's College London’s role in analysing Government construction procurement.

His lecture used UK Ministry of Justice project case studies to illustrate the legal challenges that public sector clients face as procurement innovators.

Professor Mosey outlined the new legal landscape (and minefield) entered by the Ministry of Justice as they spearhead design through "Building Information Modelling". He also illustrated how community training and employment initiatives - including for those in custody - have clashed with (and worked around) the constraints of EU procurement.

The lecture was attended by legal practitioners, legal academics, government representatives, architects, engineers and other construction experts.
