After successfully proceeding to the finals of the UK Jessup National Rounds 2014, King's College London will be representing the UK at the International Rounds in Washington DC.

The team, consisting of oralists Vinura Ladduwahetty, Mubarak Waseem and Jacopo Giunta, and researcher Hermia Wong, worked through preliminary rounds, and later won against the Cambridge and LSE teams in the quarter and semi-finals respectively. They came runner-up to the Oxford team in the national finals, held in the Great Hall of Gray's Inn on 3 March 2014 before a panel of five distinguished judges.

This is the 55th year of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. Jessup is the world's largest moot court competition, with participants from over 550 law schools in more than 80 countries. The competition is a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the UN's principal judicial organ. The semi-finals and final in Washington will be judged by sitting ICJ Judges.

The King’s team has shown absolute commitment to the Jessup competition since October 2013. Their hard work and motivation have played a vital role in securing their advancement to the international rounds. Together with their coaches, Neza Hren and Ruba Ameen (both members of last year's team), they will be continuing this hard work both in the run up to the International Rounds and on arrival in Washington DC.

The team is grateful to the support provided by King's. They greatly benefited from having practice moots judged by the Dean, Professor David Caron, Lord Phillips, Lucas Bastin, Breony Allen and Philippa Webb (the academic adviser to the team).
