Specialised Administrative Law of the European Union

20 participants, mainly eminent academics from all over Europe, gathered at The Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London for a two day conference on the Specialised Administrative Law of the European Union last week.

Sessions covered the whole range of EU policy sectors, including External Relations, Security and Justice, Economic Governance and the Internal Market, Competition and Regulation, as well as Distributive Policies and the internal administration of the Union.  The conference aimed to pull together the generally applicable administrative law with the diverse sectoral administrative law and highlight the interrelations between the two.

Speakers included: Professor Catherine Barnard, University of Cambridge; Professor Christopher Bovis, Hull University; Professor Laurence Gormley, University of Groningen;  Professor Herwig Hofmann, Luxembourg University; Professor Valsamis Mitsilegas, Queen Mary,  University of London; Dr. Andrea Ott, Associate Professor, Maastricht University; Professor Gerard C Rowe, Viadrina University; Professor Jens Peter Schneider, Freiburg University; Professor Joerg Terhechte, University of Lueneburg; Professor Jacques Ziller, University of Pavia; researchers from other European universities, as well as experts  from the European Commission, the European Parliament, and national administrations.  The full programme can be seen here Insert hyperlink.

The conference was organised by Professor Alexander Türk and supported by the Centre of European Law.

 

Specialised Administrative Law of the European Union: A Sectoral Treatment will be published by Herwig C Hofmann, Gerard C Rowe,& Alexander H Türk post the event. the publication will be a companion to and expansion of Administrative Law and Policy of the European Union (OUP 2011).
