Professor John Phillips wins Teaching Excellence Award
The Teaching Excellence Awards offer students the opportunity to nominate the tutor or lecturer they think deserves recognition in the following areas:
- Does their teaching inspire and motivate?
- Is their teaching innovative and interactive?
- Are they engaging and informative?
- Are they available and approachable?
- Is their feedback prompt and detailed? Does it help improve their work?
The Dickson Poon School of Law received a record number of nominations this year, with 48 members of academic staff nominated.
Students who nominated Professor Phillips said:
'Professor John Phillips has been the clearest and most thorough lecturer I have had the pleasure of being taught by during my entire time at King's'.
'Excellent lecturer, explains things thoroughly with no notes and stimulates discussions in classes. Impossible to get bored'.
'His delivery is exceptional. He makes new material easy to comprehend and his method of delivery allows the student to be fully engaged in the learning process. There is rapport and student interaction and he is successful in making the learning experience enjoyable'.
'Talks slowly and clearly, makes sure that all student understand the lecture, has humour. All in all, his way of teaching is excellent'.
