Foreign Direct Investment Moot 2015

Students prepare for the oral rounds of the FDI Moot 2015 at King's College London.

The Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London, is once again hosting the oral arguments of the Foreign Direct Investment Moot (FDI) Moot.

The oral arguments - where all teams come together to compete - began today on the Strand Campus. The Moot will see some 300 students from Law Schools across the world visit The Dickson Poon School of Law to take part in the three-day competition.

The FDI Moot Arbitration competition process spans approximately six months in two phases: written memorials for claimant and respondent, and the hearing of oral arguments. The competition provides law students with an opportunity to get practical experience of dealing with a hypothetical Investor-State arbitration disputes.

This year’s problem focuses on a hypothetical dispute concerning solar feed-in tariff, which is currently the object of several pending arbitrations brought against several European states on the basis of international investment treaties.

King’s is one of five co-founding institutions and a team of King’s students will be competing.

The FDI Moot is an annual event, now in its eighth year. Find out more on the FDI Moot website.

Students in The Dickson Poon School of Law have the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of moot competitions throughout their studies. Find out more on our mooting webpage.
