New partnership for Anglo-French LLB

paris II-425

The Dickson Poon School of Law is pleased to announce a new partnership with Université Paris 2, Panthéon-Assas.

The French university has become King’s partner on the Anglo-French LLB programme, a dual degree programme that allows students to spend their third and fourth years studying in Paris, graduating with degrees in English and French law.

The King’s-Paris programme is the oldest of its kind in both the UK and France and will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2017. The Anglo-French LLB provides a challenging bi juridical and bilingual education. Students on the programme must pass programmes at both institutions to receive an LLB (from King’s) and the Maitrise en droit (from Université Paris 2, Panthéon-Assas).

Acting Executive Dean Professor Ben Bowling said ‘we are delighted to be continuing King’s long tradition of teaching on the Anglo-French LLB programme with Université Paris 2, Panthéon-Assas. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Université Paris 1, Panthéon Sorbonne and the institution’s contribution to the dual programme since its formation in 1977. We look forward to working with Université Paris 2, Panthéon-Assas and building on our European partnerships, which create such tangible benefits for King’s students.’

Students on the Anglo-French programme run their own association Association des Juristes de Panthéon et de King's which supports students in London and Paris. The association aims to develop and nurture a close network of students and alumni, and regularly organises a wide range of events from social meetings to law firm presentations by potential employers.

Université Paris 2, Panthéon-Assas has consistently ranked first in law in national rankings and is King’s partner for the innovative European Lawyer Programme. The Programme was established in 2006 by its three founding members (King’s, Humboldt University and Université Paris 2, Panthéon-Assas) in order to establish and develop the European Lawyer programme (the ‘Juriste Européen’). University of Rome La Sapienza (Rome, Italy) and the University of Amsterdam (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) have recently become members of this prestigious programme.

Professor Guillaume Leyte, President of Université Paris 2, Panthéon-Assas said ‘it is a pleasure for us to reinforce our existing academic cooperation with King’s within the framework of the Anglo-French LLB-Maitrise programme. Paris 2 has a good experience in dual bi-juridical degrees and it is with great enthusiasm that we will work with King’s on this prestigious and valuable programme for Paris 2 students’.
