School welcomes Fellows to Transnational Law Summer Institute

The Dickson Poon School of Law welcomes 61 Fellows to its Transnational Law Summer institute (TLSI) today.

Fellows come from all over the world (Argentina, Cambodia, France, India, Australia, Kenya, Mexico, Brazil, Ecuador, Poland, Serbia, Sweden, Singapore, USA, Canada) and have travelled to London to take part in the 10 day workshop for advanced doctoral students and early-career academics.

The theme for this year is ‘Transnational Lawyering and Judging: Evolving Concepts and Practices’ and the School is delighted to host a range of speakers from around the world talking to this subject.
Speakers include:

  • Albie Sachs (activist and a former judge on the Constitutional Court of South Africa)
  • Saskia Sassen (Columbia University)
  • Yves Dezalay (Centre de Sociologie Europeene)
  • Bryant Garth (Southwestern Law School)
  • Hauke Brunkhorst (University of Flensburg)
  • Luis Eslava (University of Kent Law School)
  • Fleur Johns (University of New South Wales Australia)
  • Sukti Dhital, Francesca Feruglio & Jayshree Satpute (Nazdeek NGO, Delhi)
  • MS Sornarajah (National University of Singapore)
  • Ruti Teitel (New York Law School)

TLSI is aimed at providing early career scholars and experienced lawyers with a first-hand opportunity to submit their ideas on research, teaching as well as possible forms of civic engagement to collegial feedback, both from their peers and from established, world-renowned experts.
