School hosts Rule of Law Innovation challenge

lawyers-without-borders-pitch_425x283jpgOn 29 March, The Dickson Poon School of Law hosted the annual Lawyers Without Border's annual Rule of Law Innovation Challenge, which aims to encourage students to use innovation and creativity to counter rule of law and access to justice problems.

This year's challenge focused on wildlife crime and human trafficking. The students were tasked with creating either a card game, board game or story book which would raise awareness and education around the chosen issue. The teams undertook detailed research and submitted concept papers in addition to a prototype of their project.

Six teams were involved in this year’s challenge: King’s College London, Queen Mary University of London, University of Exeter, SOAS and the London School of Economics (who fielded two teams). The entries were judged by trainees from Ropes & Gray and Linklaters and Christina Storm (Founder and Executive Director of Lawyers Without Borders).

Each team was given thorough feedback and recognition on the best aspects of their submissions. The teams are now working with lawyers from Ropes & Gray and Linklaters to develop their submissions with the view to them being collated and used to produce materials which will be distributed and used by Lawyers Without Borders in-country.
