King's & IBA Executive LLM Launch

King’s College London and the International Bar Association are collaborating to offer an industry-leading Executive LLM. The programme was officially launched on Tuesday 29 November with a reception and presentation at the Waldorf Hotel, London, to a wide range of invited guests including legal specialists and leaders from the judiciary, the corporate sector, regulatory bodies and higher education.

The evening included a welcome from The Dickson Poon School of Law’s Acting Executive Dean, Professor Ben Bowling and an overview of the programme by its Director, Dr Chris Townley. The Executive Director of the International Bar Association, Dr Mark Ellis, spoke about the relevance of the Executive LLM to the sector and finally, Nick Butler, Visiting Professor at the King’s Policy Institute placed the programme into context with an insightful presentation on The Changing International Politics of Energy.

Development of the Executive LLM helps to cement The Dickson Poon School of Law’s reputation as one of the top law schools in the world and further demonstrates our efforts to set new standards in legal education and research. The involvement of the International Bar Association, with its global expertise and reach, has resulted in a partnership unrivalled anywhere in the world.

The Executive LLM is a part-time two-year advanced Master of Laws that blends online modules with five London-based immersive weekends.

Designed to bring together wide-ranging legal perspectives from around the world, the Executive LLM equips talented lawyers with advanced legal, commercial and policy knowledge as well as sector expertise. The Executive LLM is for experienced and ambitious legal professionals who are keen to build on their achievements and develop their careers. This includes lawyers who are in private practice, in-house, or those working in regulatory agencies.

Online and Immersive
The blend of online content and London-based immersive weekends allows students to participate from anywhere in the world and at times that suit their individual working schedules.

Online modules bridge theory and practice and are taught by leading academics and practitioners. They are structured as weekly meetings where interaction between module leaders and other professional students takes place in a virtual learning environment.

The immersive weekend curriculum includes the delivery of high level negotiation and leadership workshops as well as small team-based sectoral case studies that focus on solving a current legal problem of your choice.

Networking
Immersive weekends are intentionally designed to provide the time and space to foster professional relationships with likeminded peers, renowned academics and leading practitioners.
