Legal philosophers visit King's for symposium on Joseph Raz's book

Last week, jurisprudence scholars spent the day at The Dickson Poon School of Law discussing Professor Joseph Raz’s latest book, From Normativity to Responsibility.

Published by Oxford University Press, the book tackles foundational issues in moral philosophy.

Professor Ruth Chang from Rutgers University, Dr Ulrike Heuer from University of Leeds and Dr Ori J. Herstein from The Dickson Poon School of Law all presented their thoughts on Professor Raz’s publication. Professor Raz then responded to their comments. Many prominent legal philosophers and theorists attended the symposium.

Professor Ruth Chang said, “It was an honour to be able to participate in this critical celebration of Raz's work. Raz's ideas are so rich that a discussion of them is always enjoyable and stimulating.”

The symposium was moderated by Professor David Enoch from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He was also the focus of a jurisprudence workshop at the School yesterday where discussion centred on his paper entitled A Defence of Moral Deference.
