School welcomes new faculty members

As the 2014-15 academic year begins, the School is delighted to welcome new members of faculty who have joined The Dickson Poon School of Law community over the summer and in September.

Professor John Tasioulas joins the School from UCL to take up the inaugural Yeoh Chair of Politics, Philosophy & Law and becomes founding Director of the Yeoh Tiong Lay Centre for Politics, Philosophy & Law. Read more about Professor Tasioulas’ appointment.

Professor Peer Zumbansen is installed as inaugural Professor of Transnational Law and founding Director of The Dickson Poon Transnational Law Institute. The Dickson Poon Transnational Law Institute is made possible by the £20 million gift from Dr Dickson Poon CBE. Read more about Professor Zumbansen’s appointment.

Dr Eva Pils and Dr Octovia Ferraz have joined the School as Readers in Transnational Law. Dr Pils’ scholarship focuses on human rights and the law in China and Dr Ferraz’s research interests are in the field of human rights and development, especially the role and impact of law and courts in poverty, equality and social justice. 

 

Dr Florian Griesel joins as Senior Lecturer in Transnational Law. Dr Griesel’s current research is on the evolution of international arbitration from a dispute resolution process based on the consent of parties to a lawmaking process embedded in a larger system of transnational governance.

 

Dr Jill Craigie has joined the Law Faculty as a Lecturer, working primarily in the Centre of Medical Law & Ethics. Her research interests are in moral psychology and mental health ethics and law. 

 

Chris Howard joined us in the summer as Senior Lecturer in the Centre of Construction Law & Dispute Resolution, working with Professors David Mosey and Renato Nazzini.

 

Dr Claire Fenton-Glynn’s research lies in the field of human rights and the protection of children. She has published on a wide range of issues including as intercountry adoption, parental child abduction, and international surrogacy, as well as the right of the child to identity, and child participation in judicial proceedings. She joins as Lecturer in Law.

 

James Lee has joined the School from Birmingham Law School as Senior Lecturer in Private Law. James’ main research interests lie in the law of obligations and jurisprudence.

 

Katherine Hamenstadt joins us as DAAD-lecturer in German Law. Kathrin’s research interests lie in German law, European Union law, migration law, German constitutional law and human rights law.

 

Dr Niamh Dunne joins the School as Lecturer. Here research interests are in Competition law, particularly comparative and policy aspects; economic regulation. Niamh has worked in domestic and EU competition enforcement for the Competition Authority, Ireland, and as a consultant in competition policy for the OECD, Paris.

 

 

The School also looks forward to welcoming further new colleagues later in the academic year.
