Art and science collide in Anatomy Art Exhibition
For the 11th year running, the Gordon Museum and the Anatomy Department in the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine has hosted the Anatomy Art Exhibition.
King’s has a long history of hosting and working with artists across its facilities and within its wide range of research areas. Staff and students from the Faculty of Life Sciences as well as the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, Nursing & Midwifery and the Dental Institute, were invited to submit work.
This year’s theme focused on the interface between health & disease however it was open to interpretation. Artists submitted work in a range of mediums varying from sculpture, painting, graphics, drawing, assemblage and illustration to name a few.
First prize: Judith Mella, Postgraduate Masters, Global Health for her work ‘At Peace’
Second prize: Katherine Paterson, Dental Institute for her work ‘Defend & Protect – Cells of the Small Intestine’
Third prize: Geoff Staden, Intensive Psychiatric Therapy Service for his work ‘Self-possessed’.
