FOLSM 2017 in Review

2017 comes to a close with a visit to the St Thomas’ Campus from Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal who officially opened the new Wellcome/Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Centre for Medical Engineering.  The state-of-the-art Centre brings together world leading scientists from across the Faculty’s School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences, and the Department of Neuroimaging.  Full story here.

Students and education
In August, the Faculty announced more young people could now benefit from our extended medical degree programme. Expanding eligibility means that we can young people with the capability - but not necessarily the usual background - become doctors and medical leaders of the future. Full story here.

In October, the Faculty expanded its education offerings thanks to the launch of a new undergraduate programme in Sports & Exercise Medical Sciences which will take its first students in September 2018.

People
Throughout the year we have been celebrating success of our Faculty’s staff and students.  From Promotions, Inaugural lectures, teaching excellence awards and more recently our Faculty success at the recent King’s awards, there has been a lot to celebrate.  Congratulations to our colleagues who have been recognised in awards this year.
