Appointment of Interim Dean of Medical Education

Effective 1 January 2017, Dr Louise Dubras is the Interim Dean of Medical Education for the GKT School of Medical Education.

Dr Dubras has been at King’s for over a year as Deputy Dean of Medical Education and has extensive prior experience of medical education leadership. She was previously Acting Dean for Education and Student experience after five years of leadership of the undergraduate medical degree programme in the School of Medicine at Southampton University.

Speaking of her new position as Interim Dean, Dr Dubras is focused on the students:

My focus will be first and foremost to provide seamless leadership of the MBBS and providing a world class experience for all students at GKT.

My colleagues and I are dedicated to the students here at GKT and as ever have an open door policy. This year we will be meeting with our students more and I can’t wait to get stuck into our Deputy Deans and Doughnuts sessions—and not just for the treats, she laughed.

This appointment comes as Professor Stuart Carney relocates to Australia to take on the role of Medical Dean and Deputy Executive Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Queensland in Brisbane.

I would like to personally pay tribute to Stuart: over the last three years he has worked tirelessly with students, major NHS partners and colleagues across the Faculty to enhance medical student experience. He leaves in place a strong and committed senior team.
