Meet your London Champion

King’s as a civic university is a central pillar of King’s Vision 2029.  Following an open call, Dr Ian Mudway has been appointed Faculty London Champion.

This is a key role which will develop and implement a London engagement and outreach development strategy for the Faculty – ensuring we are driving real benefits for our local populations.

Ian is a senior lecture at the School of Population Health & Environmental Sciences. His research has a real London focus; his work is aiming to understand early life impacts of pollutants on the development of the lung and cognitive function in children living within urban populations, especially within London.  He is a member of the MRC-PHE Centre for Environment and Health; MRC & Asthma UK Centre in Allergic Mechanisms of Asthma and NIHR-PHE Health Protection Research Unit in Health Impact of Environmental Hazards and has over 20 years of experience researching the impacts of air pollution on human health.

Ian is passionate about living and/or working in London. He says:

‘Having worked closely with local boroughs in London on air quality issues in the past I am looking forward to exploiting my contacts to highlight the great work ongoing throughout the faculty that has a direct impact on the health and wellbeing of our cities residents.'
