Air-filtering living wall installed at Guy's campus

A 75m² living wall has been installed on the side of Orchard-Lisle House,
Guy’s campus.  The green wall which has been funded through the Mayor of London’s Air Quality Business Fund, will improve air quality at the campus and enhance biodiversity.

A carefully curated selection of 73 native and non-native species including holly, honeysuckle and sword ferns, will provide year-round biodiversity impact. Insect boxes, bird boxes and a bat box can also be found in the wall.

Rainwater from the building’s roof is collected and recirculated into the self-sustaining wall to irrigate the plants.  As the temperature goes above 20 degrees, watering will increase.  Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity, owners of Orchard-Lisle House, will support the upkeep of the living wall.
