Black Mathematician Month Closing Ceremony
This October marks the 30th Black History Month in the UK and King’s College London has been celebrating with a wide variety of events. To coincide with Black History Month, the maths magazine, Chalkdust, has declared October as Black Mathematician Month. Throughout the month they have been promoting the work of black and minority mathematicians in the hope of building a more representative mathematical community. Chalkdust featured an interview with the Department of Mathematic’s Teaching Fellow Dr Nazar Miheisi who was also quoted in The Guardian.
To celebrate the ending of the first Black Mathematician Month, Chalkdust will have a closing ceremony on Monday 30th October. There will be a talk by Dr Nira Chamberlain, Vice President of the IMA, about Black Heroes in Mathematics, which will be followed by a reception. You can book a free ticket here.
