Emeritus Professor Arnold Whittall awarded the 2013 Derek Allen Prize

The Music Department would like to congratulate Emeritus Professor Arnold Whittall, who has been awarded the 2013 Derek Allen Prize by the British Academy for the Humanities and Social Sciences. The prize commemorates Derek Fortrose Allen (1910–1975), elected a Fellow in 1963, who served from 1969 to 1973 as Secretary of the Academy and from then until his death as Treasurer. 

Founded in 1976, the prize is awarded annually for outstanding published work by a scholar of any nationality in the fields of musicology, numismatics, and Celtic studies. To find out more about the Derek Allen Prize, please visit www.britac.ac.uk/about/medals/derek_allen_prize.cfm
