Inaugural Sowerby Chair appointed

Professor Sherrilyn Roush, currently full professor at Berkeley, will be joining us over the summer to take up the inaugural Peter Sowerby Chair in Philosophy and Medicine. This is a newly endowed chair created to develop connections between ground-breaking work in central areas of philosophy and medicine. Professor Roush is a leading philosopher of science and epistemologist and her recent publications include Tracking Truth: Knowledge, Evidence, and Science (Oxford University Press).

Two new lecturers will also be joining the department over the summer: Dr Eliot Michaelson and Dr Matthew Parrott. Dr Michaelson received his PhD from UCLA and is currently at McGill University. He has broad research interests (including ethics, aesthetics and continental philosophy) and specializes in philosophy of languages. Dr Parrott received his PhD from Berkeley and is currently at Oxford. He works on philosophy of mind and philosophy of psychology.
