Workshops

Throughout March the Money Mentors are delivering a series of money workshops which aim to give you control over your finances and set you on a path to financial enlightenment

G£T Smart: Scams and Money Safety

Join King’s Money Mentors to explore different types of fraud and scams you might encounter or maybe you already have! Learn how to avoid them and gain tips on what to do if you come across them.

Money Matters! Improving your Financial Wellbeing

Our interactive financial wellbeing workshop is led by the King’s Money Mentors who are financial gurus when it comes to student life and making your money last. The workshop looks at the spending patterns of students, how and where to save money and the link between budgeting and financial wellbeing.

Housing Talks

Are you currently living in halls or at home and thinking about moving into the private sector? Not sure where to start and what to expect? Our colleagues at University of London Housing Services take you on a whistlestop tour of housing rights and arm you with the knowledge you need to make sure you know what to expect in the housing market and how to protect yourself from dodgy landlords and letting agents.

Even if you are already renting you might find this a useful overview of your rights and the upcoming changes to housing law.

Money Surgeries

Would you like to meet with a Student Money Mentor and talk about how they have saved money at university, the tricks to gaining freebies and making your money go further.  Perhaps you would benefit from the support of a peer when looking at your spending in more depth and considering where you can make some changes and set some goals.

A Specialist Money Adviser is also available should you need additional support or expert advice on accessing funding.

Come to Level 4 Bush House SE Wing 3-5pm Wednesday afternoon throughout March

At the end of the session you will set out a simple financial plan, then write a letter your future self.  The letter will detail the financial goal you wanted to achieve by the end of the year and if based on the financial plan you draw up.  We will post back the letter by the end of May 2019 and inform any lucky winners at the same time.

*Prizes include 2x £50 Amazon vouchers through a prize draw to enter you must attend one of the events above and complete the Timewarp Challenge setting a financial goal for the future.  Entrants will also be in with a chance to win 1 month’s free rent (up to £650) awarded by Blackbullion in their grand prize draw.
