Poems in the Post is a creative, hands-on poetry workshop for King’s staff, inviting participants to pause, reflect, and connect through writing. Led by facilitator Jack Wright, this accessible lunchtime session will guide participants through a series of writing exercises to help craft original poems.
The workshop is open to all King’s staff, whether you are new to poetry or already enjoy creative writing. Activities include techniques such as erasure poetry, alongside exploring a small selection of poems to understand what makes writing engaging and emotive, and how to apply this to your own work.
After the session, your poems will be shared with King’s Volunteering charity partner, Art Explora, who will gift them to older people living in care homes across the city, helping to spark connection and bring a little joy.
This event qualifies as a volunteering activity, meaning staff can use their pre-allocated 21 hours of Service Time to take part. Service Time can be booked through PeopleXD in the same way as annual leave.
By participating, staff are also eligible for King’s Volunteering’s rewards and recognition scheme, including the opportunity to earn digital credentials.
