Why log your hours?

Volunteering can be a rewarding part of student life at King's. Whether you're supporting a local charity, mentoring young people or helping at community events, every hour you give can make a real difference.

When you sign up for King's Volunteering, you'll be able to log your volunteering hours through our dedicated platform. This allows you to track your contributions, gain recognition and rewards from King's and demonstrate your experience to future employers through an official record.

All logged hours are verified by the organisation you volunteer with, making them easy to evidence in job applications, placement opportunities and further study applications.

Keeping track of your volunteering hours helps us celebrate your contributions and unlocks a whole range of benefits. 

Digital Credentials  

Log your hours to earn certificates and badges that highlight your contribution to society. You can showcase these on your LinkedIn profile under Licences & Certifications — a great way to boost your CV and stand out to employers. 

Awards include:  

• King’s Volunteer Credential – Awarded to students and staff who have logged any amount of volunteering hours on the King's Volunteering Platform.
• Remarkable Contribution Credential – Awarded to students and staff who have logged 20 volunteering hours. 
• Extraordinary Contribution Credential – Awarded to students and staff who have logged 36 volunteering hours. 
• Exceptional Contribution Credential – Awarded to students and staff who have logged 100 volunteering hours. 

Credentials are awarded in the first week of December, April and August. Make sure your hours are approved before the end of November, March and July to receive yours.

Recognition on HEAR 

Your volunteering hours don’t just make a difference — they’re officially recognised on your Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) at King’s. 

• Complete 36 hours whilst enrolled on your course to have your contribution recorded. 
• Complete 100 hours whilst enrolled on your course to receive a Dean’s Commendation. 

Make sure to log your hours and have them approved on the King’s Volunteering platform by the end of June to be eligible.

King’s Move Points 

Get rewarded for volunteering with King's Move! 

Volunteering not only strengthens communities, but it can also boost your wellbeing too. That’s why we’ve partnered with King’s Sport to recognise your contribution and reward your efforts. 

Earn Move Points for your volunteering hours and redeem them for rewards such as a King's Food hot drink, a King's Sport & Wellness Gym Day Pass, or a King's Move hoodie.

• When you reach 36 volunteering hours, you will get 500 Move Points. 
• When you reach 100 volunteering hours, you get 2,500 Move Points. 

Points are awarded three times a year in December, April and August, make sure your hours are approved before then to receive yours!  

Download the King's Move app before the 1st of the month when points are issued, to ensure your rewards are added. 

King's Volunteering Tote Bag 

Volunteers who complete and submit 36 hours of volunteering will also receive a limited-edition King’s Volunteering large cotton tote bag as a thank-you.
