Hi Fidelity Simulation
The Chantler Simulation & Interactive Learning Centre offers students opportunities for taking part in high fidelity simulation using state of the art equipment in our specially designed ward and teaching rooms. Improving patient safety is at the heart of all simulation activities.
Simulation training benefits healthcare staff in terms of continuing personal professinal development; exploring and examining clinical competencies, patient management, interprofessional working and human factors including clinical communication, situational awareness.
High fidelity simulation uses human patient simulators, these are computer controlled whole body manikins which breathe, have audible heart and breath sounds, palpable pulses, can blink and even speak. In short a health care worker can assess and treat a “living” manikin in a manner which simulates real life patient care.
The teaching is enhanced by the use of audio-visual support, which enables us to explore behaviours and technical skills, both of which impact on patient safety and patient care. The teaching also incorporates time for reflection and discussion of transferrable skills for practice, reinforcing the learning experience.
