We work with colleagues and institutions from across Australia. We also work with non-governmental organisations, governments and industry as part of our public policy research in collaboration with The Policy Institute.

In addition to direct connections with individual researchers, we have strategic partnerships within Australia. This helps us to connect Australian and UK expertise and deliver an enriched research, teaching and engagement portfolio.

University of Melbourne

Together with the University of Melbourne, the Menzies Australia Institute has hosted the Joint Distinguished Visiting Fellowships programme since 2017.

For the programme, eminent Australian fellows undertake research at both institutions throughout the course of a year, bringing with them a wealth of experience in business, government, arts and culture.

Poche Centre for Indigenous Health, University of Melbourne

The Poche Centre for Indigenous Health at the University of Melbourne and the Menzies Australia Institute partner to deliver the Poche Indigenous Leadership Fellows programme.

The Poche Indigenous Leadership Fellows programme is designed for Indigenous early career staff working in a health-focused academic, policy, clinical or research role in the teritary education, government, health delivery and community sectors.

Fellows are involved in a richly interconnected and interactive programme, which includes network and collaboration opportunities. They undertake three modules at King's College London and build expertise in their areas of leadership.

Australian National University (ANU)

In 2018, the Menzies Australia Institute signed an agreement with long-standing partners, the Australian National University (ANU) alongside the National Museum of Australia & National Archives of Australia. The result was the creation of the Australian National Fellowship progamme.

The purpose of the Australian National Fellowships is to enable ANU academic staff to undertake research at the Menzies Australia Institute for up to six months, with the view of promoting and building on research excellence.

University of South Australia

In 2017, the Menzies Australia Institute and the University of South Australia launched an Aboriginal & Contemporary Australian Studies Fellowships programme based at King's College London. The Fellowships focus on a broad range of research areas across the faculties of King's, including arts and humanities, law, science and business.

Up to three Fellows from the University of South Australia are hosted in London from October to December each academic year. In participating in the research programme and the accompanying events, the Fellows enhance their awareness of the UK and Europe and in turn, promote better awareness of Indigenous knowledges; the identity and contribution of the First Peoples of Australia; and contemporary Australia's identity and place in the world.
