The Digital Futures Institute has appointed Dr Michael Marcinkowski as its new Director of Education. Dr Marcinkowski takes over from Dr Andrew Johnstone, who has been interim Director of Education since August 2023.

Dr Marcinkowski, Senior Lecturer in Professional Education in the Department of Digital Humanities, comes into the role with a background studying digital education and socio-technical systems. Building on the Institute's mission of helping us to learn how to live well with technology, Dr Marcinkowski's educational agenda includes the development of a new online MA, Executive Education courses, and a widening participation programme in collaboration with the School for Biomedical Engineering.

I'm delighted to be taking up this role and look forward to developing a range of educational offerings for the Institute, which plays such a key role as we work on responses to the challenges of our developing digital society. One of our aims for the Institute is to be able to reach learners beyond those who fit the typical profile for university education and our portfolio of courses reflects that. I'm thankful for the work of my colleagues in creating such a platform to work from and I can't wait to get started.
